It is driving me insane. This has been my pattern for the last 4 days.
Sleep 2 hours, up 4 hours, sleep 2 more hours
Up 24 hours, sleep 1 hour
Up for till around 1am, crash till (8), so about 7 hours of sleep which is great
but now I have been up for about 24hours again
It is driving me insane! Almost literally.
I think I crashed that one day because I had been up for 24hours plus I did spin.
I would workout, but being that my sleep is off, it would actually be more of a hindrance for me to go to the gym because I would have to interrupt my sleep to go!
I have tried Magnesium, Melatonin. and Milk
I have tried eating a full meal (which makes me sleepy)
I don't feel stressed, my mind is not going a mile a minute
Unisom works sometimes to get me at least 5 straight hours, but the stupid store is out
Other than the anemia, nothing is wrong. I just had an appointment 2months ago with blood work and I may not be as anemic anymore because I have been taking that stupid iron he prescribed.
I know I will not make it to the gym now since I am sleep deprived. It closes in 2hours. I was going to go 5hours ago, but my body is really tired and my legs hurt. Probably from being up on them sporadically for 24hours straight. Or tossing and turning, and forcing myself to try and sleep (hip bones hurt)
Maybe if I ever get to sleep, the next time I wake up I can do a DVD like 30 day shred to help wear me out.
Sorry to ramble, but this is ridiculous!
Can you all think of anything easily accessible that I havent tried?

aww...well for me I used to take Lunesta...it worked...you have to get it from your doctor, but it does work...I took it for a couple of months, now I don't need it....Also, what helps too is warm milk at night...have u tried that?
some people swear by chamomile tea...I don't know if I spelled it correctly...lol...
When I workout during the day, I feel that my sleep is better too.....
hope some of this helps you...
oh ok I see u have tried milk already.....
wow that sounds exactly like me. I too am having hip pain and I do not get much sleep. Question: How does Unisom make you feel after you wake up? Do you feel refreshed or tired? I wonder if I should try that.
welcome to my world. I am also sleep deprived and have always struggled with insomnia..so what i do is just use these hours to stuy
I've heard my older friends complain about this when I was in my 20s & wondered what they were talking about. I go through this every year around this x. UGh! Not sure if you can soak in a tub. That used to work for me AMOF, I will try this tonight. LOL Hoping you are able to get through it. It can be frustrating.
I can have insomnia during certain periods of my life. I have learned that developing a nightly routine helps me get to sleep and stay sleep. 1. Don't watch TV in your bedroom. You should not have very much stimuli in the room (not sure how easily you can avoid this).
2. Take a hot bath and relax before bed. The bath should be more about relaxing than scrubbing.
3. Nice comfy sleeping clothes. Something non consrictive and soft.
4. Get into a made up bed. Not one that is still messy from the night before. The freshness help make you comfortable.
5. Don't fall asleep to noises. You soon begin to depend on them.
After 20 minutes, if you are not sleep then your body is not ready to go to sleep. I would leave the room and do something else. Read maybe and then try again later.
It works for me, I hope it works for you.
Hope your insomnia will resolve soon. Like jtbrown said, it seems keeping a nightly routine help a lot. Also, our body has its own rhythm so sleeping at the same time each day will prevent the pattern from being disrupted. Ideally sleeping at night and waking up around sunrise is better. They show people who do this tend to live longer, maybe cause they're not up all night eating junk food..lol or who knows.
Nothing to add, but Jtbrown... fantastic tips!! You may have helped me:)
My problem is getting to bed at a reasonable hour. 5-6 hrs. of sleep does not feel like enough. I'm sometimes really tired or sleepy, but I always find something to do instead of just going to bed.
